• Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal in California. If you are carrying any cannabis in the car, you have to keep it securely in a locked area and out of reach. The passengers in the car cannot smoke cannabis while in transit or on the public road.
• The consumption of cannabis is prohibited within 1,000 feet of a school, a daycare facility, and a youth center, except in a private facility where no cannabis smell is detectable to the children in the surroundings. 
• All products containing cannabis must always remain inaccessible to kids. Consider cannabis as you do other prescribed medications and store it accordingly.
• The possession of a marijuana card for medicinal purposes in California could have implications for your Second Amendment rights. Eligibility Criteria:

• The patient you are caring for must be legally entitled to use medical marijuana under California law.
• You must meet the legal definition of a “Primary Caregiver” as defined under the Compassionate Use Act. Under the Act, a primary caregiver is defined as the individual designated by the qualifying patient who has consistently assumed responsibility for the housing, health, or safety of that person.

What Caregivers Can Possess:

A primary caregiver in California may possess and cultivate an amount of cannabis that is reasonably related to the patient’s current medical needs.

MMIC for Caregivers:

The caregiver can also seek an application for the Medical Marijuana Identification Card through the county Medical Marijuana Identification Card program, which is optional and not mandatory for a caregiver in the same way that it is not mandatory for the patient to acquire the state-issued card.

Minors who are below the age of 18 can register for the Medical Marijuana Program in California; however, minors cannot apply on their own accord. The parent or legal guardian acts as the caregiver in the process, and he/she must apply on behalf of the minor.

Similarly, minors need to have an official recommendation letter from a licensed health practitioner before applying, just like any other patients. In the course of applying, the minor designates a caregiver, who, in turn, must fill out his/her own application form, including identification information.

There is currently no reciprocity agreement regarding medical marijuana in California, meaning that out-of-state cardholders cannot purchase medical marijuana using only their out-of-state card. That being said, since cannabis for adults is legal in California for recreational use, anyone over the age of 21 can purchase cannabis from dispensaries in California without possessing a medical marijuana card at all.
